WEB3 Tales Conference: DeFi, Diversity and Financial Inclusion

The event will focus on promoting diversity and inclusion, with a particular emphasis on empowering women in the crypto space. The lineup of speakers this year includes well-known companies and organizations such as Circle, which issues the USDC stablecoin, and ConsenSys, the team behind the MetaMask wallet and Infura products.

Polygon, Raiffeisen Bank, NAKA, SwissAssetDao, Visa, and Chaisecurity will also participate. More speakers are expected to be announced soon, adding to the already exciting list of participants.

This year’s conference has the support of several long-term partners and some new contributors. Key supporters include Base58, Neuralab, Studio Size, the Embassy of Canada, LostHex, and Blockchain Alliance Europe.

New sponsors such as Circle, NAKA, Decenter, Thrilld Labs, and A1 Croatia have also joined, showcasing a wide range of interests and expertise in the field.

The conference will explore the world of decentralized finance (DeFi), which is based on web3 technologies. DeFi provides many benefits over traditional finance methods. It includes services like lending, investing, and saving but operates without intermediaries.

The program for Web3 Tales includes a variety of topics related to DeFi. Key areas of discussion will be:

  • Web3 Payments: Transactions that use blockchain technology for faster and more secure payments.
  • Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs): Digital forms of national currencies issued by central banks.
  • Staking: A process where users lock up their cryptocurrency to support network operations and earn rewards.
  • Wallets: Digital tools for securely storing and managing cryptocurrencies.
  • Cryptoeconomics: The study of economic principles applied to blockchain networks.
  • Decentralized Exchanges (DEX): Platforms that allow direct peer-to-peer cryptocurrency transactions without a central authority.

The event will offer both theoretical knowledge through lectures and panels and hands-on experience through workshops. This format ensures that attendees of all backgrounds can find something valuable, whether they are new to DeFi or looking to deepen their understanding and apply it to their work or personal finances.

One of the highlights of the conference will be the keynote speech by Sanja Kon, Vice President of Circle Europe. Sanja is a prominent figure in the world of web3 and blockchain. She is known for her work with stablecoins and e-commerce.

In addition, she is on the board of the European Web3 Organization and is the author of “Web3 and Blockchain 4 Women”. Sanja is expected to share her insights on how DeFi can promote financial inclusion by making financial services available online, without the need for traditional banks.

The Web3 Tales Conference has three main goals this year:

  1. Empowering Women in DeFi: Encouraging more female speakers and participants in the DeFi space.
  2. Networking: Providing opportunities for attendees to connect, both in person at the conference and through the Thrilld Labs networking app.
  3. Education: Enhancing knowledge by offering two web3 books to all participants.
